How Do Link Tracking and URL Shorteners Work?
Carriers restrict link shorteners. Use full URLs for best deliverability.
Carriers currently restrict shortened hyperlinks in SMS messages, which prevents reliable click tracking. Message IQ cannot track link clicks because shortened URLs are blocked by carriers on a case-by-case basis.
We can appeal to carriers to enable specific shortened URLs, but approval is not guaranteed.
Best practice: Use the full destination URL in your messages when possible. Avoid link shorteners unless a carrier exception has been granted.
